Pedalboard love...

Like a proud papa... had to share a pic of my recently completed board. I made all my own connects which was time consuming but worked out well. It's all powered with a VooDoo Mondo. I'm looking to figure out a way to get some LED lights underneath it somehow... just looking for the right lights. Anyhow... the whole rig is sounding pretty sweet through the new Mesa Mark V. This is pretty much my dream rig... the Mark V is incredible and I will NEVER consider another amp. I'd love to see some other pedalboards if there isn't already a pedalboard thread... I looked quick but must have missed it if there is.

Cool board man, you can do a lot of cool stuff with that

I have tons of pedals, but prefer to keep my board simple unless I'm noodling around at home

Sometimes I use my DM-2 or AD-9 Pro instead of the DD-7

there's something to be said for keeping it simple [thumbup]

I don't get out to gig much at all anymore and when I do, it's most often acoustic so my board is going to be staying put for the most part. It's fun having a bunch of stuff to experiment with... the Line 6 M5 is great for that.

Yeah the M5 is great

What's the Box of Rain? A copy of Jerry Garcia's built in buffer/preamp?

I have a guitar with the same buffer/preamp as those found in Jerry's guitar and it has a toggle for an onboard effects loop, so from the guitar, I can toggle either direct or through the loop. That's actually installed in the trem cavity of the guitar as is it's battery. The "Box of Rain" is a pedal I made so I don't have to change up the wiring of everything. I allows me to play my "normal" guitars through my effects board and amp without rewiring everything. To play the OBEL guitar, I just have to switch the big toggle to OBEL and use the "OBEL in" and "Stereo in" inputs instead of the "regular in" inputs that are on the side of the Box of Rain.... I think I made that all sound more confusing than it really is. [laugh] It's basically a routing box depending on which guitar I'm using... there, much simpler. [smile]

The strat made a good platform for the project as the 5-way was necessary. I also considered using a Gibson Nighthawk and down the road my experiment with making another Jerry inspired guitar.

Figured i'd share. Since you posted a picture of your Mark V I figured i'd throw in a pic of the dual rec. :)

I need a nice delay/reverb pedal to finish out my board. I like keeping it simple.

Here's my sad little board.

Vox Wah

Korg tuner

TC Spark boost

reverb switch from my amp

Home made board built to drop into an Anvil brief case.

After seeing some of these on here, I definitely need more pedals.....lol.

I have to ask about the Dual Rec... I was surprised that my Mark V offers up so many clean to slightly on the verge of OD tones, does the Dual Rec also have lots of clean flavors? The first thing I think when I see one is crushing metal but my Mark V has been full of surprises.

Regarding your pedal, I think there's a little T-Rex (maybe?) pedal with both delay and reverb. The M5 and an expression pedal is a sweet option unless you're set on using the 'verb and delay at the same time.

I have no problem with the clean channel on this amp. I know a common criticism is that the cleans are terrible on rectifier amps. There is also the pushed setting on channel 1 which is a great slightly over-driven option. The problem is that I use the clean setting in channel 1 so i can never use the pushed when playing live. I have used it for recording and it sounds great but it's a bummer I can't use it more often.

For channel 2, i run the amp in the raw setting. Since I play rhythm in the band this is the channel I use most often. I get a nice low-gain crunch out of it.

Channel 3 i run the modern setting with the presence up to get a great smooth high-gain lead tone.

So while the mesa amps are known for the nu-metal sound, they are quite versatile.

Here is a pic I just quickly took on my phone. I run the java boost into the vox and the other pedals into the blackheart. Im thinking of downsizing the side that goes into the blackheart though because I prefer the fuzzy sounds rather than modern overdrive. I think I can get away with taking out the phase 45, alpha drive and corona chorus. Id then put the pedal on the far right on the board.

The little gold box on the far right is a hendrix fuzz face I mounted into an empty rubber washer tin I found in the garage. The cry baby chassis has a Teese RMC3 mounted into it (the original chassis was too big to fit on the board when I had it ordered differently)

I don't have an updated pedalboard shot, but currently it consists of 4 Visual Sound pedals (Double Trouble, V1 series H2O, Angry Fuzz, and Son Of Hyde), a Zoom 5050 Choir, and a Dimebag signature Crybaby From Hell.

As those familiar with the pedals might realize, I'm a gain fiend. I like to have a variety of sounds at my disposal with which o change my distorted sound. Sometimes I take the amp only, other times, whatever combination I see fit.

with the H2O and the Zoom Choir, they are essentially a digital vs analog pairing. Some things the H2O does very well, some sounds offered with the Zoom just aren't possible with any analog delay and/or chorus I've ever tried.
