So what are your thoughts on the...

Recommended Posts

I am getting the Epiphone news bit e-mail notices and I saw in there some of the new guitars and the amplifier that Epiphone has for '14.

Was wondering what your thoughts were on the Casino Coupe? I think that it looks pretty nice. But I don't have a lot of Casino experience. [cursing]

I've had one on pre-order for several weeks now, I started a thread on it, didn't get but a couple comments, not too many peeps here seem interested in it, based on that

I can't wait, expected to ship no later than June 6th, I've got the first one at sweetwater or zzounds.

I was 1 of the comments & I THINK I said i'm salivating for one...(may have been "drooling")

i'll have to wait til Sept. but I hope the Coupe AND Century amp are both still available then.........

The smaller-bodied Casino Coupe should be less prone to feedback than the full-size and some people will like that. It will be more comfortable for a younger/smaller person to hold, it will be light weight and a hollow body electric sounds better than other types when playing unplugged...it's a fine addition to the Epiphone lineup.

A better way to say what I meant: Some of us are excited about it! [thumbup]

I was thinking about this guitar last night and one of the thoughts that entered my noggin was that, isn't this going to be a Riviera Custom P93 but without the Bigsby and one less P90?

Not quite, it's a smaller body, and hollow.

I don't care for the smaller bodied versions of the "335 shaped" guitars such as the 339 and Casino Coupe. I like the larger bodies and think the smaller versions look funny.

I'm with you, although not so much because of the look. I bought a Gibby 339 a few years ago and sold it about a year later. It wasn't as "down and dirty" as my LP, and wasn't as "mellow" as my modded Dot. Sort of "close but no cigar" on both counts.

I'll stick with my Elitist Casino. Not sure what I'd gain (if anything) by getting a Coupe.

One thing I am very excited about is the coupe's neck join @ the 19th fret. I've been sticking with late 1990s early 2000s MIK Casinos just to get that 17th fret join instead of the 16th, I need all the room I can get on those frets!

Check out that real estate!

Looking forward to getting one.

The full hollowbodiness in this size is very intriguing and will produce a unique sounding guitar in the Epi lineup. I had the Epi 339 but was not crazy about the semi-solidness of it. Same goes for the Wildkat - nice size, but the semi-solidness (as opposed to semi-hollow) just didn't register with me. The Coupe should be much different.

I've always loved Casinos, but sold two or three of them because of the lack of upper-fret access, and the 16 inch body size. I was wishing for a smaller bodied Casino or long-neck Casino! This Coupe should solve both issues. Maybe they'll be somewhat less of an 'airy' or 'woody' sound than the regular Casino, but we'll just have to see.

Right now I have the Sorrento 50th Anniversary - a great guitar.
