charlie brown Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 My New "toys!" Picked them up, yesterday from my dealer, E.M. Shorts, in Wichita! I was trying to get away, from using too many pedals, but these two I just fell in love with! One word: "AWESOME!!" Very transparent (doesn't color your natural guitar tone, at all, on or off)! Very versatile, and awesome (to me, anyway) tone, regardless of volume, and specific effect(s) selected. The "Plimsoul" is VERY "Plexi" Marshall, in tone! (I about pee'd my pants!) The GT-500 can be used as 2 seperate pedels, or combined, in 2 different configurations. I'm "in love!" CB
Dub-T-123 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Enjoy your new toys CB! Surely you don't need that tone bender any more :P
dc3c46 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Enjoy your new toys CB! Surely you don't need that tone bender any more :P Tone Bender !!!!!!!!!!! Had one ages ago and was so ignorant to sell it for cheap. Now I'm thinking of the lovepedal Bonetender.
Dub-T-123 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Tone Bender !!!!!!!!!!! Had one ages ago and was so ignorant to sell it for cheap. Now I'm thinking of the lovepedal Bonetender. There are a lot of much better recreations of the Bender out there than that one
charlie brown Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 Yeah, I've retrieved my mid-1960's Vox Tone Bender, from storage. Things are so downsized, these days, I'd (almost) forgotten how big a pedal it is.! LOL But, I really DO LOVE the new Fulltone pedals, above. And, as I've mention here, before, I'm not a real pedal fanatic, at all. So, I'm as surprised, as anyone, at my reaction. But, it's all GOOD! CB
Dub-T-123 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I definitely trust your judgement on the true sound of a plexi based on that photo of you with your LP! Honestly though I'd pay you a fair price for that Bender if you ever want to let her go. And you could trust that I'd give it a loving home where it wouldn't collect dust!
jdgm Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 No love for Fulltone? Interesting... CB I'd love some Fulltone; very impressed by the blue MOSFET Fulldrive and there's a new version...but I already have at least 9 OD/Distortion pedals...stop...must not get more pedal GAS!!
charlie brown Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 Yeah, the "Tone Bender," is an iconic pedal. It's amusing, that it has such a large housing, with so little "stuff," inside. LOL But, it's a keeper, for sure. This photo, is from the Internet, but the unit is identical to mine! CB
NHTom Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I've got a Plimsoul on my list of wants. They sound great. NHTom
RevDavidLee Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Congrats CB! I love Fulltone pedals. The only one I don't own is the Plimsoul and eventually (I know me) and I'll pick one up. I have spent the bulk of my musical life getting top of the line amps & guitars so I love pedals because they fill my G.A.S. needs and entertain me to no end. Enjoy your new acquisitions. Be careful you don't become a pedal-phile

Be careful you don't become a pedal-phile Thanks, David! I'll try to restrain myself, BUT...knowing me, that might be hard to do? I think the Fulltone OCD is on my list, now, as well? Time will tell. CB
'Scales Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet (o/drive & boost pedal) is the only effects pedal I use live at this stage - into 2 Fender amps on clean channels. It's a good'un. A good friend of mine uses the Fulltone Wah into a JCM 2000 DSL as his rig - same applies.
Californiaman Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Charlie Brown, I'm a proud Fulltone pedal user. I've got the Plimsoul, the MDV2, and the '69 Slight Return. I'm picking up the Secret Freq at the end of the month. Something about that midrange boost that just gets my adrenaline running.

RevDavidLee Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I succumbed to the desire for a new pedal. I just ordered this one. I blame CB for inducing G.A.S.
surfpup Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 The Fulltone stuff is usually pretty good. The only thing I have of theirs currently is the DejaVibe pedal (the wah looking one) but I've had a few others. I wasn't super impressed with their FAT boost. The O.C.D. was a decent overdrive - it just didn't have a lot of personality. Wouldn't mind trying out the '69 or '70.
charlie brown Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 Well, I own a Fulldrive, that I've always loved. So, I thought I might as well try out, at least, the GT-500 and Plimsoul. Glad I did! And, although I'm in the so called "honeymoon" stage, I think they'll both be keepers, and quite useful, for my limited requirements. But, as always, to each his or her own! CB
Stu-bud Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I just bought a used Fulltone OCD, version 1 (very low serial no.). It rocks.
charlie brown Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 I just bought a used Fulltone OCD, version 1 (very low serial no.). It rocks. Congratulations! That's on my list, as well...at least to try out! Problem is, I'm 100 miles from my dealer (or ANY dealer), so I have to wait until I'm going up there, anyway, and hope they'll have a version "in stock" to try out. Any "pro's and con's" on the various "versions" 1, 2, 3, 4 or whatever is now current? CB

CB I don't know of specifics, just that the earlier versions were better; pros and cons, $120 for a new OCD, $270 for an old one. Why did I buy one, sight unseen? I am a fan of (among others) Don Felder's tone, and he said he uses an OCD (as well as his favorite tweed deluxe). There you have it.
