mountainpicker Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 If it were me picking between the two to make a purchase it would be #2. I liked the bass response better out of number 2. But I have to say that my Recording King RNJ-25 cuts it right up there with either of these two NL's.
jannusguy2 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I'll take this guy's demos over the bearded butt hole from Music Villa any day of the week. Greg cracks me up and wrings more out of the instrument IMO. Nice guitar, too.

Phelonious Ponk Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Yeah the second one had a bit more bottom end but they both sounded good. I've played a couple of those that sounded nothing like that. What I really need is that dude's right hand. P
Smurfbird Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Since I will never play like that, the demo isn't that helpful. I'm not a huge fan of super-flashy playing anyhow. My attitude is if Bob Dylan or the Rolling Stones would sound worse with a certain kind of musician in their band, it doesn't work for me. Since I've never bought an album strictly for the guitar playing. Well, except for Leo Kottke, Bert Jansch and John Martyn, but you know what I mean. Even Richard Thompson knows he can't flash all the time.
Yggdrasil Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I didn't think either sounded particularly good, especially compared to the 4 NLs I've owned (Gibson 12 fret mahogany 2006, SCGC H13, Kopp NL maple, Fairbanks mahogany NL). Maybe it's a computer speaker/streaming deficiency.
bobouz Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I'll take guitar number two & some of whatever Greg smokes!
