AnneS Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 (Okay, you opened, but you still don't have to click the link! ) It's been a while, but here's a new one that came just today. If you can stand the rough edges and pitchy-ness, you might enjoy this little end-of-the-world ditty. Once I found "you can grow a new aorta, you can print a plastic knee..," I kinda knew I had to go with it. In Parting
MorrisrownSal Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Great song Anne! Did you record it all one take or separate tracks? I ask because I'd love to hear your voice a little more relative to the guitar. If this is one take, then maybe position the mic a little closer and higher to your voice? I dont know - maybe I am just getting old and losing higher frequency! The lyrics I dig. Although I think the government is gone.Something to do with lobbyists... I would listen to an entire set of yours grinning and relaxing any day of the week.

Yes, it was all one take- meant just to capture the guts of the thing and having very little production value whatsoever. But your points are good ones- as usual. 👍 I saw the movie "Particle Fever" the other day-a documentary about looking for and finding the Higgs-Boson particle (which I highly recommend), and seeing the intelligent passion of all those scientists tempered my general bad mood about the state of things, tipping me--if only briefly--back toward something like a glimmer of hope that, in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, human beings and their collective breadth of imagination can be spectacularly awesome. For fun, here are the lyrics... In Parting Anne Stieber © 2014 The ocean is rising every day; you can’t see it yet, but that is what they say And next years’ storms will pack a bigger punch; this is science, kids, and not some kooky hunch. I lie awake at night, and I wonder what to say To all the young ones out there now who’ll witness come what may You can grow a new aorta, you can print a plastic knee You can organize a march of the brave and free To take back your government, rebuild it brick by brick You can do these things, but you better do ‘em quick. The end of all things is drawing near; you can’t feel it yet, but that is what I hear You'll be around, but I’ll have moved along; And I’m so sorry I can’t right one single wrong. So what to tell you, darlings —the children of my heart About the broken future, about your heavy part? You can find the last particle, you can climb the last peak You can come to the aid of the old and weak You can build a new tomorrow from the complicated past You can do these things, but you better do ‘em fast.
