BluesKing777 Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Sorry - electric guitar photos below, but I had the Nikon out and dusted off my first decent electric - 72 Fender Telecaster Custom: This was a real BIG DEAL to own at the time, and possibly where the G.A.S. started! (And led to a way more fun and exciting life than if I had kept the Kiowa and boring job.....) BluesKing777. [thumbup]
BluesKing777 Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 And believe it or not, the Tele was my only guitar for many years..... until I ought this 83 Fender Stratocaster, known as the cheapskate Strat - look at the plug: BluesKing777. [thumbup] All sounded great once I stumped for a Mesa Boogie 22 Watt ear splitter! Before that, well....many amps...
fsharp Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I grew up playing electric guitars and traded them all in for an acoustic 14 years ago. I have absolutely no desire to go back. Yours look like they are in great shape. Do you play them often?
Phelonious Ponk Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I had one of those Tele Customs, in black, years ago. I actually play more electric these days, though it was the other way around for many years. These dats, I play Leo's other guitars, G&Ls. P

Yours look like they are in great shape. Do you play them often? I haven't played them in years - I found my spare car keys and was looking at some extra keys....1 side gate, 1 garage, 1........Aha....the missing key to the bike lock I threaded through them to discourage someone running off with them. I had to do a bit of cleaning, and the Strat I put away a bit wet. All strings kaput! The Strat neck is ok, but the Tele neck is real skinny. BluesKing777.
zombywoof Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Cool I cut my teeth on Fenders and played a 1958 Tele and 1960 Esquire for decades. Even had a '66 Strat in there for a bit. Every time I see a Tele Custom I think of Keef. Love the microtilt neck. The design was fine - Leo proved that with the G&L guitars. But Fender just could not build them right. You do run into a lot of three bolt Fenders with inky necks. Here is the Tele showing every mile put on it.

I never knew Keef had that Custom style pickup configuration until fairly recently...same with his P90 love on Gibson Juniors! Forums! Your Tele looks like you found in at the bottom of the swamp! Or nicked it from Rory's collection? BluesKing777.
