Thinking of purchasing a Sheraton II and was wondering where they were made. I've heard the eariler models were made in Korea and the newer ones are from China. Quality (fit/finish) on the Sheratons?

Thanks,

Sheri's are made in Both Countries! The quality now, is pretty much equal!

At first, the Chinese made versions had some slight "issues," but those have all be

resolved. The biggest way to tell, is the Samsung variety has a slightly different

looking upper bout, and "waist" placement. More of a "generic" look, to it. The

Chinese verisons, have a very "Gibson" body outline, as that of a ES-355, etc.

At first, the Chinese Sheratons had one piece necks, with a scarf joint at the headstock,

and the heel. Although certainly structurally sound, they just looked "too plain," especially

on the "Natural" finished versions. The Korean models had the 5 piece necks including

the darker "striped" wood between the 3 peices of maple. That was felt to be even stronger,

and a lot more pleasing, to the eye, as well. Now, you get the 5-piece necks, on the Chinese

made versions, as well. So, they're all pretty much the same quality, nowadays. Electronics,

have vastly improved, on Both versions. Biggest difference now, is (again) the body shape.

Some folks don't worry about that, at all. I (personally) prefer the more "Gibson" like body

shape. But, that's just Me! [biggrin]
