charlie brown Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 None. The original versions of those hollowbody guitars are precisely why there is a telecaster. rct +1 However...the Casino can be "twangy," and growl too! As can the Wildkat, though it's a semi-hollow body. Both have warmer sounding P-90's as opposed to the "sharper" toned single coil Tele pickups. Best thing you can do, is try them out! CB
kidblast Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 hey! I would say to check out the Swingsters as another option. they are setup with an out of phase setting (push/pull) and that definitely gives it a top end bite that would invoke a bit of that Telecaster magic. Pull the tone pots out, and you have that traditional Gibby PAF sound. I love mine, (white Royale) don't think I'd ever part ways with it. but I have to say.. there is only one thing that's going to sound like a Telecaster... A Telecaster... Rock on!

old mark Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I have a Casino Elitist, a Riviera P 93, a Chinese Dot, and a MIK Sorrento. I can get Tele like tones from the Casino and the P93, but they have a LOT more to offer, too. I like Tele's, but I like hollow body guitars, too, and Epiphone makes several great ones. The best thing it to try to play a few and see for yourself which is the best fit for you.
