jimmi accardi Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 It's time to replace the tuning pegs. The stock ones slip and are just generally cheap. My Casino is a 2010 MIC standard model. Anyone know what are good replacement tuners that would basically drop into my guitar? In other words - that would fit without having to do drilling, etc. Thanks
Bender 4 Life Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 i'd suggest Grover "Super Rotomatics" with 18-1 winding ratio.
joevacc Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 i'd suggest Grover "Super Rotomatics" with 18-1 winding ratio. +1 Just put a set on my Sheraton and I wish that was the first thing I did. jv
DonCarlos Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 If they are Kluson style then these……...Gotoh SD 90 MG "Magnum Lock", with nickel butter-bean button. If you are looking for a drop in replacement that holds the tuning , you may want to consider these. Goto is a reliable and respected tuner. I posted some pics of my black MIK on this older thread. They have held up very very well. http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/99790-lets-see-your-epiphones/page__st__200
Spamonkis Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 What you are looking for is the Grover vintage deluxe 136 series. You can get them on ebay for about $40 as I recall. The stock Epi tuners on the Casino are copies of these, so they look and fit exactly like what you had, but they say "Grover" on them and are the real thing (Quality). God bless, Spamonkis
jimmi accardi Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 I just noticed the replies. Thanks everyone. Spamonkis - the Casino I have is Made in China 2010. The Grover vintage deluxe 136 series will fit right in? I don't know if there is a difference between the MIK and MIC versions as far as drop in replacement sizes. Anyone know if the tuner spacing and holes are the same?
jimmi accardi Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 Will these fit into the MIC Casino? http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guitar,_solid_peghead_tuners/Grover_Tuners/Grover_Vintage_Deluxe_(136_Series)_3+3_Tuners.html?actn=100101&xst=3&xsr=456272

sdgails Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Before you change tuners, lubricate your nut first and see what happens.
charlie brown Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Change the tuners, if you hate them! BUT...most tuning issues are NOT the tuners, even cheap ones! It is usually a poorly cut Nut, especially plastic ones! I'd (first) have a bone nut, installed, and properly cut, for the string guage you use most. Make sure it doesn't "ping" or "tug" when you tune the string. If so, have the luther widen the slots, a bit. And, always use a lubricant, like graphite (pencil lead), or "nut sauce!" Good Luck! CB
jimmi accardi Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 Thanks everyone. The tuners for the A and D string actually slip a bit so I'm gonna get the new ones.
