daveinspain Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Lost my buddy Beni in the early hours of the morning today... Thanks for the time you gave me Beni. RIP...
DanvillRob Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Dave, I'm so sorry to hear this. It's always so difficult, (I know, I lost my constant companion of 14 years two weeks ago), But I take comfort knowing it's best they don't outlive us! RIP, Beni
capmaster Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 This is bad. :( How did that happen? I hope Beni was able to pass away in dignity. May Beni rest in cat's heaven, and your thankful memories be your companion.
ksdaddy Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I'm very sorry to hear this. I wish they would last as long as we do.
Searcy Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I'm sorry Dave. I know you made his time here a good trip.
Bender 4 Life Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 My condolences Dave.......pets are family members too.
RevDavidLee Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 My condolences as well Dave. I had one cat for 21 years (Kansas) and when he went down I mourned for 2 years. Then adopted 2 cats (brothers) named aptly "Rock & Roll" (Roll was the fat one). Now both of them are gone and after burying 3 cats in my back yard - I have decided no more pets. Rock would run away when I started playing thru an amp here at home, but Roll would run to lay right in front of the amp and twitch all over while I played. He loved it. They were quite the pair. Can't deal with burying anymore little friends. They all have very unique personalities and expressions that emote human qualities that are just endearing and hard to let go of. My sympathies.
charlie brown Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Sorry, for your lost, Dave. Pets are, indeed, "Family!" CB
MissouriPicker Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Truly sorry for the loss of your good friend. It's never easy.......I was told by a someone much wiser than me that the reason our dogs/cats live a relatively shorter life than we do is so we can own several of them throughout our own lives. I wish you the best.
darling67 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 So sorry for your loss, Dave! ... from someone who's lost a cat in the past—and will again someday in the distant future.
Kaiser Bill Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Being an animal lover, I feel your pain. My deepest sympathies on your loss. Lo siento mucho.
daveinspain Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 This is bad. :( How did that happen? I hope Beni was able to pass away in dignity. May Beni rest in cat's heaven, and your thankful memories be your companion. Beni died in his sleep and did not suffer at all. I brought him to the Vet yesterday because he had gotten very skinny although he had a good appetite and was eating like a horse. They found he was very anemic and suspected he had a tumor in his spleen. They gave me some medications and said to bring him back on Monday. Poor guy never made it. He was a great cat, had a very sweet nature and was good company. I'm very glad he didn't suffer. Thank you all for your kind words. It's nice to have a place like this to share, even the bad stuff… Dave
knowyourenemy Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Dave From a fellow cat lover im sorry to hear about your loss, even though Beni never suffered it still doesnt take away the pain. Ive also said goodbye to a few cats before but the joy they brought will always remain. RIP Beni
nick_s Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 There's not much worse (if anything) than losing a loved one; human, animal, it doesn't matter. There was a mutual bond that has been severed in the mortal world. RIP Beni, may you find mice a-plenty and scratch posts everywhere you turn from here henceforth :(
AndyK Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Dave, so sorry to hear that, mate. As a cat-lover and owner, I know how it feels. Gosh, the number of times I've been reduced to floods of tears in the vet's because of this... I hope you get two new kittens to focus your attention on, like we did when our last cat died.
awel Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Sad to hear this Dave, domestic animals are more than just domestic animals, they're definitively part of the family. :(
Aster1 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Sorry for your loss Dave!! It's so gut wrenching to lose a friend (human or furry). Glad it was peaceful for him (we should all be so fortunate) and you didn't have to make that awful decision on your own. The loss is great, but the love will carry on and I believe pets & people want you to do well, so honor him with taking good care of yourself. If the time comes to make a new Friend (never REPLACE), then do so w/o guilt. Best honor is to want the love of a new friend like the one you've lost. God Bless, hang tight!! Aster
Izzy Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I'm sorry for your loss. Glad he went in peace. That's a great picture, btw. Beni was a looker.

It's nice to have a place like this to share, even the bad stuff… Dave I guess it was best for him to not make it back to the doctor, and to find the final relief in his sleep. I think this is a grace to any creature when the last moment comes this way. A cat strayed into my family's former house on May 2nd, 2000, and my son and me had to leave it to my divorced wife and my daughter on April 15th, 2013. She was in sad despair for months, wailing all through the night, and is still very skinny despite of eating well. She is missing my son and me obviously. When my son is at his mother's and sister's new dwell, she is with him most of the time, and when I come there for bringing or fetching my children, she stays by my side miaowing at me. Luckily, she seems to put up with the situation a little better with time but she just reflects the bad of it all I think. :(
rct Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I'm sorry Dave, it is very hard. I'm sitting under one, Mrs is under the other. They are part of us, always are. Truly I feel your pain. rct
Guitar God Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Extremely sorry for you loss. Being a MAJOR animal lover, myself, it breaks my heart to hear about the loss of your cat. Pets are more than just pets, they're family and best friends. R.I.P Beni! :(
