Jeff Beck gets his funk on

I had to google Ron Jeremy.

But Max Middleton is very cool indeed with a considerable rep -

I saw this line-up at the Roundhouse, probably the same year. Serious firepower. R.I.P. Cozy Powell, much missed.

Beck has a truly incredible band at the moment and a new album nearly ready for release.

Jeff Beck is a little weird for me to get into. I feel like his music doesn't really have any hooks, but he also has some really brilliant moments

I tend to agree with that!

His is his own entity and sometimes his playing makes me think of a spaceman or something other worldly and it just doesn't fit with any particular genre conventions...

But some stuff is simply sublime!

I think he is technically the best guitar player on the planet. Very subjective I know.

Not someone to crank on the car system to get everyone to sing along on a family vacation with but that's not him.

Watching him on Live at Ronnie Scotts is amazing.

The Ron Jeremy comment made me laugh out loud. Show who on this forum watches that sort of stuff. [scared]

His sound in that video may be the best Strat sound ever

Yeah I actually feel the same.... im not in to instrumental music much, so its the same for Steve Vai and Satch..

BUT I went to see Jeff with Clapton a few years back and what I find is that he is absolutely mesmerising to watch, I mean amazing (so much better than slow hand).. and since then I have been way more in to Jeff.. But watching him play in these videos is fascinating... As mentioned. Hes not a pop or even rock player... He does his own thing which combines different styles (jazzy rocky) and sounds and is just a one off.. So yeah, he doesn't have the usual hooks and riffs, but that's exactly what hes aiming for I reckon.

If he made more commercial music he would be a Hendrix.
