desertrose Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Recently I've bought an Epiphone EJ200 from Ebay. Honestly the sound of the guitar is nice and does not sound like it is a counterfeit one. The thing is : this is a cutaway version of Epiphone EJ200 but there is no pickup with it. I have been searching on google and found no other EJ200 cutaway model without pickup. The stamp inside (which can be seen in the pictures below) said : EJ200CBK,which i guess it stands for EJ200 CUTAWAY Black and the series is GG07101339. Again I have looked up on google and base on the information I read on Epiphonewiki, it said that the serial GG is some kind of mystery. I have some pictures of the guitar : http://imgur.com/a/aLYef Can you guys please help me find out whether this is a genuie or counterfeit model ? I am very confused since the sound, the hardware and the wood is good but the appearance does not seem right to me. Thank you very much !
mgrasso Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I doubt that this is a counterfeit acoustic. Just an acoustic EJ200 with a cutaway. Epi serial numbers with the Gs are hard to pin down, but you own an original Epiphone. As long as it plays well, enjoy her.
Geezah Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I'd be surprised if it was fake. Most counterfeiters will produce copies of much more valuable products; lots of fake Rolexes, not too many Seiko's!
