I mindlessly entered a giveaway at instrumental music here in Southern California (I enter a lot hoping to win a strat or a Martin or something of the like) and received this:

Hi,

I am happy to inform that you are the lucky of our Tascam DR2d digital field recorder.

Please drop by our Ventura location to pick-up your prize. Also we would love to have a picture with you and our staff

Congratulations!

Bryan Mc***, President

Instrumental Music Corp

First I thought it was a scam because I wasn't named by name and there was a word left out and then I thought, what the heck is there to scam? Unless it's just to get me in to the store.

Then he wrote me back confirming.

Wow. The only other thing I've ever won was a frozen turkey at a bb gun shooting contest in 1979. That, I thought, was easy. Everyone got 3 shots and lined up their sites and everyone was shooting up and to the right by an inch. I shot down and to the left by an inch and nailed it. I was 3rd in line.

I want to go and get it but am laid up in bed with a sequestered disc fragment in my Lumbar spine that had re herniated. I wouldn't wish this on an enemy. I'm sure some of you were wondering why the heck Tman was posting so much.

Gonna wear my Gibson T-shirt for the photo. I'll post (if you don't laugh) [crying]

Congratulations,

I have back issues that flare up once in a while, I can relate. A few months ago I had sciatica pain for the first time and at one point it made me cry, spit and everything went white all in a flash of pain, I was out circulation a couple of days.

This has waxed and waned for a month. First just a little tear that sent me to the ground for a few minutes then got better. Then last Monday I was lifting films (stupidly) and that night it hurt then I knew it was bad when it was killing the front of my thigh which means it is directly pressing on my L 3 nerve (I diagnose this for a living). I see people come in all the time incapacitated and sometimes I think,"Come on, it can't be that bad." It is.

But it may be just amputate at one moment then ok 5 minutes later if I strike a position that relieves the pressure.

Seems it is a lucky week for me (glass half full kinda guy here). I went to work yesterday and my partner told me I was off for the week (I hadn't even checked the schedule). Got a tax refund from California that was completely unexpected and then won this recorder. I'll take the good with the bad for sure.

I've been managing my spine with a therapeutic massage and chiro adjustment once a month, they are in the same office. It has been working well for me.

I already had surgery fusing c6 and c7 and do not want to go that route with my lower back.

I hope you get to feel better and your good luck continues.

Thanks Riffster. Going to get a direct spine injection by one of my partners. Great chance for her to get me back for anything I may have done in the past to tee her off.

I was plagued for a few years by a herniated disk - tried a bunch of things to alleviate the pain but finally had an injection in my spine and that did the trick. Good luck and congrats on your winnings!

Good luck, I had an injection by C7 and worked for about one day.

Once my surgeon went in he told me there was nothing that would have brought my disk to health, he asked me why I waited so long to have the surgery done and I simply told him: I did not have a diagnosis!

To this day my hands get very stiff sometimes and playing guitar is just not feasible, this makes me inconsistent and this is the main reason I do not try to join a band.

Anyway, on my current low-back issues my chiro suspects is have sacralization of one of my vertebrae (I guess a little vetrtbrae "leg" fused to my pelvis) in my lower back on my left side and this is the main reason for all my issues. I had some X Rays done but did not show anything, not sure why my Doctor suggested the X-Rays only to tell me afterwards that X-Rays would not show something like this.

Thanks Hoya! Going to try one more dose of steroids then the injection if unsuccessful. I don't even want to get in the car to go to the office. While in bed I think I'll write a song then record it on the Tascam. Keep me from getting bored and just posting on the forum all day long.

You can see that with X-ray. What you can't see is the soft disc, if that is the offender. Good explanation by your chiro. Called "transitional anatomy". I once read it's only seen in those of exceptional intelligence so you're at an advantage <_< .

What?............me a winner?

Mein Gott. Wanna trade one of those for a Tascam field recorder?

Don't even need to answer that.

That's Great, TMan!

I'm glad for you.

I haven't won anything in a while, but that's not going to stop me from entering.

I bought my Fender Custom Shop Diamond Anniversary Telecaster from Instrumental Music in Ventura.

It's the Santa Barbara store I shop most at. Seems like every time I go into Santa Barbara I end up at Instrumental Music.

Good for you. Rock on with your bad self and watch out for Rattle Snakes. 'Tis the season.

Thanks Cman! I'll go tomorrow and pick it up (hopefully). My wife said she'd drive [biggrin] .

I still can't believe I won something.

Hey Cookieman, how'd you get two? Which one did you win, the EPI or the Gibby? And what's up with the different bridge locations?

Had a spinal nerve root block yesterday. Nothing short of miraculous. My partner Rachael did it and she was so quick, relatively painless and the results amazing.

I'm going to go pick up my Tascam prize today and have a photo with the staff (in my Gibson shirt) and I'll be able to stand up straight! Thank god (and Rachael who has achieved diety status in my eyes) for that.

If you're curious about it, when a disc herniates it can either hit the spinal nerve or the ganglion of the nerve which is a collection of nerve heads so to speak, a bit away from the main spine. For a disc to hit that it has to migrate. Mine, like a programmed droid, hit the ganglion. So she had to go through the foramen with the needle (the hole where the ganglion lives) and inject there. It was instant relief. Ganglion compression pain has been described as the worst pain only surpassed by childbirth. When I had my baby it didn't hurt that bad (steroids talking and I am joking, absolutely no offense intended).
