Replacement pickguard for Inspired by JL Casino

Hi, all

Looking to do a little customizing of my IBJL Casino.

I'm thinking of switching out the chrome pickup covers for a black plastic set (I think P-90s sound better this way).

When I do, I'll need to replace the stock white pickguard with a black/white/black or tortoise shell guard.

I know there must be good sources out there for these parts - so please help me out with your suggestions.

Thanks!

I always use Terrapin (in Oregon) for pickguards. My Casino went from chrome, to creme, to black on the PU covers and with a black pickguard, added at the last change. I think it looks great. I also changed from the bent, flat bracket, to the no screw, 330 type bracket, which looks cleaner but means that buying off of eBay or Stew Mac isn't an option (their guards have the hole pre-done).

Something else to consider. At least with Epi P-90s, swapping out covers is an ordeal, at best. Don't know about the ones on an IBJL. Lollar does it, but it's not a cheap conversion. You're almost better off buying new ones and either saving the stock ones or selling them. There's a recent thread about alternative P-90 builders/sellers. I've gone through seven or eight, with Lollar or Vintage Vibes being my favorites. However, check into a new guy on the block, who's garnered quite a following . I have two sets of Zhangbucker Firebird pickups and for the money, his stuff is fantastic. Little bit of a wait, at times, though. His other pickups are getting rave reviews, so I can only guess his P-90s are right there, too. Don't scrimp on Casino pickups. Top of the line PUs will make your guitar, well, top of the line.

Thanks - I have Lindy Fralins in my ES-330 and love them. Maybe I'll go the same route with the Casino. Duh - why didn't I think of that?

Thanks, Tweed2. Just happen to have a Gibson mount in my parts drawer and I was hoping to use it on this conversion. I'll check into Terrapin. Appreciate your help.
