Full moon and Fri 13th

Jason meets the werewolf" could be the name of the movie they'd make about tomorrow evening.

Skywatchers will get a special treat as a full moon occurs on a Friday the 13th, something that hasn't happened in June since 1919, according to universetoday.com.

Known as both the 'Strawberry" moon as well as the "Honey" moon, the actual full moon will occur very early Friday morning, but will still be nearly full when it rises in the east Friday evening.

The Baltimore Sun reports that the "strawberry" name comes from the fact that it's strawberry season, and Algonquin Native American tribes knew this was the time of year to gather them, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac.

YOUR TAKE: Share your full moon photos

It's also known as the "Honey Moon" since it can have a slightly golden tint, EarthSky.org reports.

This is the first time since Oct. 13, 2000, that a full moon has occurred on a Friday the 13th of any month, and the last time it will happen until Oct. 13, 2049.

yep, getting off work 2 hrs late (4:30am) I had to drive home a little slower 'cause the full moon had the deer out grazing beside the highway.......

I CHOSE locker 13 when they rebuilt our locker-room 'cause I knew nobody else would want it.

far as luck goes', I think we make our own....some call it Karma, some call it reaping what we sow......

The moon was HUGE and nearly blood red arising over LA tonight from the east. Wait it's not Halloween. Does it mean the same thing?

Aluminum (pronounced ah loom in um) just in case. [tongue]

We were out in Lamar Valley all night Friday the 13th. The moon was spectacular, the night scope looked like broad daylight. No wolves though. It brought with it a spectacular sunrise and breakfast time for the bears. Awesome McGawesome.
