Gibson Blueshawk Phantom

I have a Blueshawk Phantom, apparently only 14 were made!

It has a pearlescent scratch plate, gold coloured metal fitting, blueshawk phantom on the truss rod cover and came with a brown Gibson all as standard with the phantom (so I'm tolď).

Does anyone know anything about them as I'm struggling to get any more info?

I recently had it appraised at a vintage guitar specialist in London, they also couldn't find out much more info but were aware of the limited production saying it was 13 or 14 made! They valued it at £1800.00, but I suppose its only worth as much is someone is willing to pay!

I'll post some pictures if anyones interested in seeing them.

Thanks Ben

How do I post photos? Struggling! !

Hello...

the best way is to use an image hosting site... a lot of us on here use http://www.photobucket.com .. upload to there and when you click on a picture you have uploaded you will see a bunch of links down the right hand side... Then simply copy the IMG link in to your post and they should show (up to 10 per post)..

Great looking guitar!

Are there any differences from a standard BH beyond the knobs, pick guard & truss rod cover?

There is an extra sound when the pick up selecter is between one of the three positions, I don't know what it is or do I use it much, I did think thats why they called it "Phantom", I really can't find out much about.

I'm thinking of selling it as I now play bass most of the time and have just had a new Rickenbacker 4003 delivered (well my wife wants me to sell it) I'd like to hang on to it as they are a bit special!

You better keep the wife because she might get the guitar in the divorce. LOL

Seriously, you need to explain the collect ability of the guitar to her. Mine has gotten upset with me over the years; but, usually gets over it after I explain why. I hope the Ric is all you expect because I keep seeing mixed reviews on the lack of consistency and QC.

That is a beautiful guitar. I would hang on to it.

A very worthy guitar indeed... [thumbup]

And about time for a re-issue if I am not mistaken...

I have something very similar in concept from UK luthier Gordon Smith

There is a slight similarity with the Nighthawk aesthetically

And IMO a welcome relief from all these pesky, ubiquitous Les Pauls... [biggrin]

That's awesome! Never heard of that model and I have owned a Blueshawk and a Nighthawk in the past. Sold them both because I never played them but seeing prices as they are now I wish I had held on to them. Seeing the Phantom is awesome and one of the many reasons I join forums is to see things I haven't heard of before. Thanks for sharing that! [thumbup]
