mackles73
Found a guy willing to trade and need advice. Want to make sure it's a fair trade and just don;t know enough of the J-45's. (Been a Hummingbird Guy for Years) Here is his guitar - 1999 "Early" J-45. http://charlotte.craigslist.org/msg/4459969896.html I'm trading him my 2011 Mint Condition - Les Paul Studio & 1983 Mint Vintage Fender Stage Lead Amplifier Guitar http://www.zzounds.com/item--GIBLPSTU13?siid=118930 Amp http://archive.pennysaverusa.com/category/merchandise-music-instruments/region/w-us-ca-los-angeles-reseda-91335/1983-fender-stage-lead-amp-27865677.html

Do you have a chance to play before you pull the trigger? I'd probably only do it if I could play the J45 before-hand, and found it to be markedly good. If it's a as good as he'd advertised, I'm pulling the trigger. I just don;t play electric as much as I'd used to and want to build my Gibson Acoustic Collection. Thanks for chiming in and giving me advice!!
zombywoof
A straight out trade sounds like it would be a heck of a deal for you. I would be surprised if the guy with the J-45 did not ask you to kick in some cash on the deal.
BigKahune
. Go for it. Just ball-parking it - a regular Studio would be $800 at best. The amp maybe a buck and a quarter. Seeing as a recent used J-45 would go $1200-$1500, you've got a nice deal there. .

bobouz
Gibson's acoustic line-up was revamped for the better in 1999, so this particular J45 will be similar to others from the early 2000s - and there were some excellent guitars built during that time. It looks like a good trade, assuming the J45 is structurally sound & you like the tone.
mackles73
This advice has been very helpful! I've loved the overall tone and playability of the J-45's and have wanted this added to my collection for some time. Thanks!
