NGD Epiphone Broadway Elite

Recommended Posts

Well it showed up yesterday & I must say this is the finest guitar I've ever owned. Absolutely new condition. (it's a 2003). Sweet, very rich, full but very focased sound. I think I see now why Gibson stopped production of Epiphone's Elite Broadway. It's really an L5. I have two other Broadways (not Elite or Elitist) and this is worlds apart. I'll try & post some shots. The marks on it are reflections & prints of everyone's grubby hands on it all afternoon. [biggrin] Edit: I'm having probs with posting pics. Too bad. She's a beauty.

Congrats! Here's a few pics for ya. I had to find both to see what the difference was. Both fine looking guitars but the Elitist is really awesome.

Is there a noticable difference in the way they feel or sound?

"Is there a noticable difference in the way they feel or sound?" Yes J4T5 I'm kind of surprised at the difference both acoustic & electric. The Elite has a much richer tone. It's also over 1/4" thicker. I was not aware of that. I think I can upload photos now. Here goes

From the old Amos and Andy TV show many years ago, Amos's favorite line - "Holy macro Andy"!

That is a beauty all right. You latched on to a great git fiddle mate. I bet it sounds awesome. Congrats. msp_thumbup.gif

That was my impression with my Elitists...built to Gibson's standard of quality and workmanship, but with a poly finish rather than a nitrocellulose finish (and a different headstock).

There's a big difference in tops that certainly contributes to the Elitist's tone: the regular Broadway is laminated; the Elitist's is mostly solid, with only a very thin veneer on the back to prevent splitting.

I have both a standard and Elitist Broadway, as well. I agree with everything said so far about the wonderful qualities of the Elitist. However, I'm pretty impressed with the standard model, too. It's a very good value, and could be easily improved with better pups, or even a tunomatic bridge to focus the sound in comparison to the stock wooded one.

Enjoy your new Elitist!

Yes Red333 I'm still in love with my two standard Broadways (one natural & one sunburst). They're both very fine rich sounding and great playing boxes. I'll have to sell them though. I'm running out of places to put things around here and I know I'll always pick up the Elite first. The natural is practically new if anyone's interested. I got a dang good deal on it and I'll be passing that along.

Super nice Broadway. I did have a "regular" Broadway, about 12 or so years ago. I had it for 3-4 years, but let it go. I do miss playing that. I also wish Epiphone would start making more Elitist guitars like this again, as well as the Byrdland and Zephyr Blues Deluxe. I have read that Epiphone stopped production of (most all of) the Elitist line (all excepting the Casino guitar). Too bad. Some people just like Epiphone's and could care less about Gibson guitars (me being one of them). If Gibson/Epiphone realized that sale of the Elitist line of guitars really does not "cut into" the profit made on selling guitars, whatever guitars and that the guitar playing public persons want nice Epiphone's too, Do you understand ? The "pro" series of Epiphone guitars looks cool...I'd personally like to see the Elitist line expanded to include not only the Casino, but several other guitars too...like a Broadway, Riviera, and how about an Elitist P93 in "iced tea"...come on Epiphone...like I tell my 2 kids...."Get with it"...lolmsp_crying.gifmsp_mellow.gifmsp_blink.gifmsp_lol.gif

Nice Broadway msp_thumbup.gif

Nice Broadway! I have a 2012 MIK, a real nice guitar.

I also agree that it would be great if Epiphone would start up the Elitist line up again.

I would jump on a Brydland as soon as they were available.

I found that on the bay. It was up for about 4 1/2 to 5 minutes I think. Just hit it right but I've been looking two or three times a day for quite a while. :D

Good on ya! [wink]
