Epiphone Thunder bird Classic iv question

Epiphones website lists the neck through models as the Thunderbird Classic - iv PRO. Sweetwater lists the same model as the Epiphone Thunderbird Classic IV (dropped the PRO?). Sweetwater lists the alpine white model as having the Gibson pickups and the classic sunburst model as having Epiphone USA pickups. Is this a typo on Sweetwaters part or is their model listed newer and/or different? Just curious.

the Thunderbird Classic IV and the Thunderbird Pro are two different models. The Classic IV (both white and sunburst) has Gibson USA pickups and the Pro has Epiphone pickups (designed in but not made in USA) and active electronics. it may be a typo on Sweetwater's part. The Thunderbird Classic is closer in feel and sound to the Gibson Thunderbirds in my opinion. Hope this helps.

Hey Other John,

The 2 Classics are the same (and different from the active "Thunderbird IV Pro")

I ordered a Classic IV Pro VSB last May. When it arrived the box label only said Classic IV, but it was the real deal:

- neckthrough

- Gibson pick-ups

- strap button where the neck meet the body

- plug on the side

...and more importantly it sounds and plays amazing!
