charlie brown
The headstock for the Elitist 1966 Riviera on the Epiphone site isn't the typical one for the Japan market. Those look like Gibson headstock. Only the actual "Gibson model" Epiphones, for the Japanese market, have the Gibson headstock. The actual "Epiphone models" have the correct Epi headstock. Barcham
Even the recent solid body models for Japan only, such as the Tak double cut, has the regular Epi headstock. The only reason they ever used the Gibson design was to compete with other companies who were using it at the time, such as Burney. This is no longer a problem and that headstock design will not be used again on Epiphone JDM guitars.
Jeffery Smith
I took a look at the Epiphone Japan Wiki site. I had no idea there were so many Epiphones made in Japan that were intended for the Japanese market only.
Barcham
The Epis being made today that are for Japan only, such as the Tak DC, are not made in Japan, they are made in China. Only Elitists are made in Japan, no matter what market they are for.
