IanHenry
Hi, As I've mentioned previously, I had the good fortune to play a fair amount of guitars when I visited the Gibson Memphis plant during May, and the Acoustic that stood out despite being the cheapest model in their acoustic range was the J-15. Since returning to the U.K I've tried several examples of the J-15, but none of them were as good as that first one. Interestingly, I played one of them twice, the first time it left me cold but the second time it was like a different guitar, far better. I went to a different shop and played several guitars, a J-15, a J-35 and a J-45, the J-15 and the J-45 were both fantastic but the J35 wasn't in the running. I was undecided between the 15 and the 45, they were both great but different, the 15 is zingy and bright, the 45 a more "fuller" sound, I would have been happy with either, but decided to stick with what I originally wanted and bought the J-15, so here it is: There's some interesting little bits & pieces in the case, a new set of strings, a Gibson sticker a Key fob with a press stud on it (I've no idea what that's for) and even a pick! Anyway I'm quite chuffed with it. Ian
btoth76
Congratulations, Ian! You are the second person within a week who made me envy... ;) (The other guy is who bought the P-90 Trad. with Bigsby). Never cared for acoustics, but this one is truly beautiful. Enjoy it with good health... Bence
IanHenry
Thanks Bence, I always like to have an acoustic to hand, and enjoy playing them as much if not more than my electrics. The guitar could do with a bit of a set up and new strings (I like Elixir coated one's) but I'm just letting everything settle down first, acoustics need to be treated with a little sympathy when there new. BigKahune
. Seems those J-15 are getting quite few buyers out of the forums here. Great looking slope dred. I'd love to see a pic of the walnut back. Congrats and enjoy. . B) .

milod
I think there's been a tendency to consider walnut an "odd" wood for musical instruments. A now long-passed friend of some 40 years ago who made fiddles, mandolins and guitars made one of his from walnut and it sounded quite nice enough. I still have one of his mandolins he made for me and ... it's a very nice little instrument except that the fingerboard is formica! m
RevDavidLee
Congratulations Ian! I have yet to play one of those specific models as I am quite satisfied with my Songwriter Deluxe but... all of those Gibson J series make me drool. For that reason alone I have avoided going to any of the Gibson dealers locally. Once you get almost any Gibson in your hands out comes the wallet. I hope you enjoy the hell out of that new sweet looking guitar!
