RevDavidLee Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Just purchased via American Musical for $499 + I ordered a Epiphone Deluxe Les Paul case to put it in (add another $89). I was reading the Gibson email that they send out and the article on the Joe Bonamassa Ltd Edition and after reading all the specs and drooling over the photos I had to have one. I have no Epiphones in my collection so this will be a first. I'm very excited Here's the specs: Dressed to kill, the Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Custom Pro Electric Guitar features nickel appointments, fully bound body, neck and headstock and mother-of-pearl inlays. Including custom-wound Epiphone Pro-Bucker humbucker pickups with coil-tapping, SlimTaper D-profile neck, Grover 16:1 ratio tuners and much more, the Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Custom Pro Electric Guitar is as gorgeous as it is deadly. capmaster Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Good decision, Rev! I think everybody should have one. I love my Epiphone Les Paul, too, and hope her Gibson sisters of mine are not too jealous of their rival.
brad1 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Congratulaions! For that price I think it's a great guitar. That's a nicer version than I have seen. I like the matching black knobs and the headstock binding.
Jeffery Smith Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Congrats on the new baby. People are liking this shade of blue. I prefer it over the goldtop. Very cool.
Thomse Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Looks like a nice one Rev. I have the Les Paul sg in that color i like it a lot .
RevDavidLee Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 Thanks guys! I was just checking around the web and see that Musicians Friend is selling the same guitar for $549 (jeez why $50 more?) Sweetwater doesn't state a price as they are out of stock and you have to pre-order, Zzounds has them for $499 and they are in stock there. In every event it appears there is no case included but for these prices I wouldn't expect them to throw in the case. The reviews I've read are mostly positive, saw some complaints about the humbuckers not being as powerful (no surprise there especially if you're comparing to a Gibson at 4 times the amount of money) go figure. And a couple about fret buzz but I live just a few miles from the authorized Gibson warranty shop so if there are any issues I can't straighten out with a truss rod adjustment or string intonation I'll just take it to them - no cost to me so all is good. And if I find the pups aren't to my liking those can be replaced with some Gibson ones and I'm still hundreds of dollars to the advantage over a pelham blue Gibson Les Paul so I am unconcerned about any of that. It is a stunning looking hunk of burnin love. Heh

To my experience it's in timbers, design and construction. My Epiphone 1960 Tribute Plus Outfit came with Gibson '57 Classic/'57 Classic Plus stock. It sounds extremely similar to my Gibson Les Paul Standard 2012 with BurstBucker Pros. Seriously, after recording them with all push/pull pots pushed I can only discern them in a double-blind test conducted by my son when listening to fortissimo parts. In contrary, two Gibson Les Paul guitars of mine featuring '57 and '57 Plus sound radically different. In particular, the Gibsons have more of a midrange edge and translate heavy string attacks better. Neck adjustment was no problem on my Epiphone. It came slightly overstretched but was stable within two days after adjusting for the stock .010" - .046" strings, followed by restringing with .011" - .050" and readjusting the next day. Had to perform a tiny correction a few months later, and nothing more happened since about one year.

I am truly looking forward to getting my hands on this gorgeous looking guitar and quite honestly if it doesn't require some fine touch setup I would be surprised. Especially given the fact that my 2k 3k & higher Gibson's have also required this setup new out of the box or case as well. I did find a pelham blue Gibson LP but I didn't want to drop over 3 grand given the brothel of Gibson guitars I already have. They have really done a class job on this limited model and I can't wait to play her. More pics when she gets in da house!
capmaster Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Looking forward to the forthcoming guitar porn aka Pelham "Blue Movie"
Barcham Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Why didn't you buy the Bonamassa instead? It comes with a case and has Gibson pickups, all for not much more than what you paid for this one with the extra case charge.

Would have done the same as Rev since the Bonamassa model doesn't provide the coil split options.
Thomse Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Would have done the same since the Bonamassa model doesn't provide the coil split options. The guitar that Rev has coming is a nice guitar . Epiphone pickups have a great sound . I have a lot of Gibson's and i tryed a Epiphone and i like them a lot of bang for the $$$ . and what he payed for that Epi . Was a great deal . As Rev said sometimes you have to set up a 3000.0 Les Paul . Have fun with it Rev i am sure it will be a great guitar for the price .
Sleeko Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Wow, I like that. Let us know how she performs !
RevDavidLee Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Why didn't you buy the Bonamassa instead? It comes with a case and has Gibson pickups, all for not much more than what you paid for this one with the extra case charge. As my other brother "cap" stated, I liked the coil split options, I also like the look of the binding better than the Bonamassa model and the head stock inlay better as well. As a small issue I also saw that they put two different knob designs (like they did with the Gary Moore model) which is just odd to me and I think that looks goofy. I know I know I could have cheaply changed knobs so they all matched.. but as I said it was the other features that I preferred over having ""gibson" pups on this particular model. Trust me - I have plenty of Gibson pups in my house Thanks guys for the good thoughts & wishes. Hurry up FedEx
RevDavidLee Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Wow, I like that. Let us know how she performs ! Thank you! What's that gorgeous guitar you got in your hands there?

I have felt that fancy colors were for fancy playing musicians! hahhahaha! B) This Pelham Blue LP is so very cool! Every time I see a guitar this color I get a serious case of GAS! Good luck with it and of course we will expect pictures of it right away!! (and lots of them!!) jv
Sleeko Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Thank you! What's that gorgeous guitar you got in your hands there? That would be my Elitist Broadway. Ah thankyouverymuch!
RevDavidLee Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 That would be my Elitist Broadway. Ah thankyouverymuch! That's a stunning guitar! After you identified it I google'd it to look at some close up photos - very nice and not a bad price either! Now stop giving me more Epiphone G.A.S.
capmaster Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 ... Thanks guys for the good thoughts & wishes. Hurry up FedEx Let's hope they hurry with care, transporting such a nice and delicate freight.

capmaster Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Oh I'm here for ya! Awesome. What a pretty back! Sorry, Rev, simply had to tell it to Sleeko.
RevDavidLee Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 Sigh.... hello wallet... goodbye money... That really is a stunning beauty. And natural finish guitars have a special place in my heart. You know why.. because other than acoustics.... I DON'T OWN ANY!!!! I gotta go look at some guitar porn now.. bye guys...
milod Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I've mentioned before that I don't care for the LP shape/feel at all - but my "baby" brother does. He said his Epi LP was the best playing guitar he'd had his hands on. He could afford about anything he wanted and tried batches of instruments in the "big city" environment he likes. My electric Epis - two Dots to be exact - are quite nice and as recent versions, have more than adequate pups and stuff. I'd have to believe the recent LP Epis are as good. m
