Riffster Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Yep, got the Deluxe version of the album the day it came out. I like it a lot, best album since Painkiller for me.
Bender 4 Life Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 thanks for posting that! i've been a fan since their very early days,,,,,,,
Californiaman Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 I remember when Unleashed in the East came out 35 years ago (1979). Played it till I wore it out. It was the band's No.1 selling album when it was released. Green Manalishi, Exciter, Diamonds and Rust, Sinner, Victim of Changes. It was all good. Between Sabbath's, We Sold Our Souls for Rock-n-Roll, Rush's, 2112 and Unleashed in the East, I think I had one of them on my stereo at some point in the day.
Riffster Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Unleashed In The East was the window to the older Priests songs, then came Brittish Steel and the awesome 80s era. I eventually went back and got the 70s studio albums, they are all great.
Bender 4 Life Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 remember the imitation razor blade neclaces??? I almost got suspended from school for refusing to remove mine !
Jimi Mac Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I remember when Unleashed in the East came out 35 years ago (1979). I was never really a fan and never paid them much mind... Then I realized (into my 40's) that what became their signature song, off that album; "Green Manalishi" was a Peter Green song from Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac circa 1970 and I instantly had more respect for them and decided they must be better than I've given them credit for as that to me shows some true musical foresight and reverence. I am only now exploring more of their music...
Bender 4 Life Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 that's good stuff ! but it's no....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tv-e9DJqK4
Riffster Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Sure but a lot of fans did not think Defenders of the Faith measured up to Screaming for Vengeance back in the day. I like the new album a lot, i put it on the "like" pile. If you have the opportunity listen to the whole thing. I wish they hadn't ruin the sound of it but that's just too f***ing much to ask these days.

Riffster Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 I liked it too, it took me a little bit to assimilate it since it was different but to me it is a classic. I still have the vinyl and it is worn from playing it over and over.

The first time I heard Diamond's and Rust by the band, knowing that it wasn't an original song, I thought, "Wow, how innovative."
