brad1 Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 They are on sale right now for an unbelievably low price, and I just couldn't pass it up. And I am sooo glad I didn't. I LOVE THIS GUITAR!!!!!!!! What a great guitar! I love the finish, Fireburst Satin. The neck is perfect. It needed no set up out of the box. However I wanted to put on 10s and lower the bridge somewhat. So I did. And now it's even better. No buzzes anywhere. No scratches, or imperfections of any kind that I can detect. It came with a graphtech nut that is really nice. Putting on 10s didn't require any mods to the nut. The 61 Zebras are great sounding pups IMO. I think the gold logo on the headstock looks good too. My plans were to put covers on the pups and change the knobs. But I must say...the longer I have it...the more I kinda like the way it looks. And it sounds fantastic. My G400 is a little darker sounding. The SGJ has a maple neck (instead of mahogany like the g400), and has 24 frets. Is there a better guitar you can buy right now for $489? I don't think there is. I usually hang out on the Epiphone side of the forum. But I may have to start coming over hear! If it's OK. Here are the required pics... My SG Family
capmaster Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Ha - now your new purchase is also present at the Gibson SG subforum. Well deserved to be pictured here, too! HNGD again, and have fun with her.
brad1 Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 Thanks everyone! I'm having a hard time putting it down!
JM2112 Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Congratulations!!! Yup, SG's are the best value out there. You get more guitar for the money than any other guitar, IMHO! SG's rock! Looks sweet, enjoy it!!! HNGD!!!
BigKahune Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 . That burst looks great with the satin finish. Congrats. . B) .
brad1 Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 Thanks again for all the kind words. I have even changed my avatar to a pic of this SG! I had a pic of my Epi trans-blue +top up for a long time for my avatar. But I am selling it on Tuesday and it will no longer be mine. I am using the funds from it to pay for the SG. So it is only fitting that I replace it with my SGJ! Which, BTW, I like MUCH more than that Epi LP.
RevDavidLee Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Happy new SG day! You can't have too many SG's. One of the most iconic shapes ever to be manufactured and they just sound fabulous! Enjoy my friend!
brad1 Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Happy new SG day! You can't have too many SG's. One of the most iconic shapes ever to be manufactured and they just sound fabulous! Enjoy my friend! Amen to that! And thanks. :) That's beautiful. Thank you. It sure is nice to know that I'm not the only one who thinks it is. I've seen a few of these, and this is the nicest looking one I have come across. Sounds really good too!
capmaster Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 ... You can't have too many SG's. ... This also applies to some more guitar models I believe.
