markwillplay
Here is a comparison of the Pearse Pure Nickels and D'addario nickel wound EJ-22's. They have both been on and off the guitar twice and have been played in a fair amount. Both medium sets. I am using ultex 1.14 flat pick. No doubt the EJ-22's have less tension than the Pearse pure. I played them back to back n these videos for fun. Can you tell a difference? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKGPcK6DicE&list=UUZYcrE-R6n9hjL5pSyTJ6vw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sm6YxX3mWCs&index=2&list=UUZYcrE-R6n9hjL5pSyTJ6vw

If you are of a senior age, I am 66, the Newtone Heritage strings tune up at a lower tension making them easier to fret. Newtone can be bought direct from the manufacturer in Derbyshire UK or through dealers like 12th fret Stateside http://www.12fret.com/content/newtone-strings/
markwillplay
I like them too, but they do not last as long as nickel (at least the phosphor bronze don't). Did not know they had nickel strings. I think it is CLEAR that this guitar likes nickel strings...at least it is to my ear.

B1ues Boy
I just have a Lap Top so I can't really tell much difference maybe the JPs which do you like best
markwillplay
the EJ-22's. Less tension to me. The pure nickels have more tension in same gauge (,medium)....however, if I play lights, I will get the pure nickels...54-
B1ues Boy
Thanks Mark have you tried any of the Monel strings and did you sell your Recording King 12 fret yet I was thinking of getting one but I've decided to get the new J-35 Collector's Ed or the New Taylor 812 12 fret
CAMELEYE
Been using Ernie Ball "Not Even Slinky" nickel wound (12 -56) on my standard J-45 for about a year. Love 'em.
kevbo82
I like "nickel 2" those are the Pearse right? I use the JP PB usually. I tend to like a brighter tone and nickel 2 sounded brighter to me. Have to try those out.
kevbo82
On the string topic, anyone ever try Thomastik strings? One of my favorite guitarists, Michael Lockwood (who plays a lot of old Gibsons) said they came on a Martin he bought and they were really impressive. Big price tag though!
