ilovegibsons Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Ive seen a 'Firebird Studio (made by Gibson, not Epiphone) for sale. Is it an old model? It isn't mentioned anywhere on the website.
AXE® Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 They bade them for a year or so. Basically is an SG in a Firebird body.
thejay Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Discountined them last year... have to check on ebay!
ilovegibsons Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 I just saw an online store (DV 24/7) with a new Firebird Studio. £939. Confusing... See the Firebird Studio
dc3c46 Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Hi ilovegibsons! This Firebird Studio is different to the Firebird V. Has different sound 'cause of the full size humbuckers it has got. And : 1044 euro is a lot of money for this one. Save up and get the Firebird V you will not regret it. I got one and love it.

Californiaman Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I played a real nice red one a year ago. It had the mini humbuckers and was $850.00. I enjoyed it. Thought I might buy it but decided against it.
thejay Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I am Firebird Studio is very different from a Firebird V. Studio sounds more like an SG due to its 490/498 humbuckers - a V has mini humbuckers.
SRV-Zeppelin Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 The studios are pretty nice - also the only 'birds that come in Ebony. I believe Dave Grohl plays one in "The Pretender" music video... If you're looking for a Firebird with an SG sound, it's the way to go.
ilovegibsons Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 Naah... I just realised I'll be able to afford the V in a few weeks...
jefleppard Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 this guitar is a geat deal and yes, it does sound like an SG. i just swapped out the neck pup for a mean 90 as i found the stock hum too muddy. it sounds much better now. it has steinberger 40:1 ratio gearless tuners that hold very well. nice looking guitar, too. that said, the V is incredible and worth saving for. mini hums rule.
jefleppard Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 axe - that guitar is absolutely gorgeous. did you swap the pups out of it or are they stock? i ask because there is one here in town ($1750cdn - long and mcquade) with minis that looks just like that. i love the finish and raised center block. mmmmm.
AXE® Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 They're a swap, I have the original pickups and can drop them in and out at will. It is the signnature model ya know .
