Hi everybody,

what are your thoughts about buying a Les Paul custom black beauty? If you look on ebay price goes around 2.400$ for a 90s LP custom . Is it a good price ? Whats the difference in the sound? Is it better in the 80s models?

Thanks ! [biggrin]

Hello!

That`s an average asking price on eBay for 80s/90s LP Customs. Tonnes of them there without any bidding going.

I don`t think one or another decade is better. Depends on the particular guitar. For around this money You can get a few years old Custom too.

Its one of those things..

Guitars are all so unique no one can say one from a certain era may be better or not than another or just buying a totally modern new one... The best thing to do really is to try a whole load of different LPs and you will soon understand what you like or don't like and that will narrow down your choices.

Im sure both good and bad guitars are made in every decade.

It's all very subjective.

We're all different creatures and we all have slightly different tastes...

The trick is to understand what you really want and to satisfy the desires within yourself that will allow you to have a passion for playing your guitar.

Anything after 1986 is Gibson USA and the quality greatly improved after that sale of the company from the Norlin corporate era... '72/'73 or so 'til '86. (manufacturing run as opposed to actual ownership)

Yet now those Norlin era guitars are becoming sought-after, so everything is cyclical anyway...

Try lots of 'em until one speaks to you!

Also make sure it's a real one. There are counterfeits on every corner of the web. :-k
