mojoworking
Thanks Brian, just took a look at Chris' Guitars and saw the Les Paul in cherry - nice. You were right about the site, it's hard work to read. I was quoted around the same price as you mentioned above to re-finish the SG, so I'm hoping for a good outcome! I'll post photos when it comes back home.
mojoworking
Progress report. Here's the latest on the 1961 SG VOS refinish. Not sure how it will look finally, but it's coming along nicely.

mojoworking
Clearly my impression, too. A few more "in progress" pics showing the colour better, especially on the back
mojoworking
So, the promised 8 weeks turned into 12 but finally I have the SG back re-finished and looking great. I had new pots installed and the old knobs had fused to the shafts, so new knobs are on order from Gibson. That's why there are none on the guitar in these pics. I thought it may be a little too dark at first, but as can be seen from these two pics, the outside shot makes it look quite a bit lighter than the inside shot (the lines on the guitar on the outside pic are the reflection of the patio roof). All in all it's a great job and I'm more than happy. See the start of this thread for pics of how it used to look.
