BluesKing777 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Here is another test recording of my Neumann KM184 mic on my version of the aptly titled "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed - I have had a couple of perfect days since getting this mic. Should have done it years ago..... (FYI - same mic as in the Acoustic Letter demos). Vocal/Acoustic guitar version (2006 Martin HD28v) which I have had trouble recording previously without the 'boominess' - very pleased https://soundcloud.com/bluesking777/perfect777b BluesKing777. Sorry - no Gibson yet - working our way towards them....did some Archtop stuff - played not so good....and you ain't hearing it!
BluesKing777 Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 What a diff take. Nice! Thanks Sal! BluesKing777.
BluesKing777 Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Microphone into what? This is nice. Thanks again, Dan! Mic runs in to my much flapped on about Allen & Heath 4 channel mixer, which has a USB out! Very, very handy and not outrageous in price for the quality sound...could also be used live for solo or, though no one is currently available, a duo....(thinking a beautiful singer to catch the coins).... The vocal is a Shure Bullet mic that the harmonica players like, me too, though playing harp would probably give me a paroxysm .... I run all this into a simple and getting ancient iMac G5 with and old version of GarageBand, then off to the ether.... I was tuning the old LG3 to run it through the paces when I have a break from work, and the phone rang - my L-0 should be ready at the end of the week.... It's all happening today! BluesKing777.
onewilyfool Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Good one, old chap!!! BK….do you play in coffee houses, or bars, anywhere out in public? I imagine you have a nice set list you could go through…..
BluesKing777 Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Good one, old chap!!! BK….do you play in coffee houses, or bars, anywhere out in public? I imagine you have a nice set list you could go through….. Old chap is contracted to this computer, so no.... I used to play in some bands that had a 'they ask us, we'll play there' policy, and later I played in a bluesy trio a bit. I use to do a 'mini-set' of blues fingerpicking tunes, sometimes in the middle of a electric show to break it up, sometimes open the night (terrifying solo). Never, ever had enough songs, especially if we had a residency where the same old songs drive you and the audience crazy. So the underlying driving force is the lack of tunes in the set list - can never have enough, even though we don't play out......something at the back of my head wants to keep learning tunes, perhaps for when this contract ends and I am out on my can....plaing out the front of the supermarket....
