J-Doug Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Hi guys, It's been a while since I posted anything including new music. I started this tune back in late July but after a 3 week guitarless vacation in California most of it was gone from my head when I got back (I did have some nice guitar experiences in Cali including a trip to McCabes and a tour of the Santa Cruz Guitar Company factory by Richard Hoover himself, followed by a trip to Sylvan Music). Woody Mann's Piano Roll on a Martin 000-28VS recorded with a Zoom H2n. https://soundcloud.com/tripleohdoug/piano-roll I think it's a really nice tune. I hope you like it.
blindboygrunt Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Good stuff doug. nice music for a Sunday morning. what's with the woody Mann obsession though ? seems to be all your posts are woody covers. not criticising at all. Just wondering :)
MorrisrownSal Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Excellent! Sweet tone. I was about to post nice Gibby tone... but then I see you went Nazareth!

For the past two years I've done workshops with him at Fur Peace Ranch (next year too). I get back home from FPR with 5 new songs to work on during the year. It usually takes me a few months to work through the FPR tunes and record them. After the FPR tunes are done I work on non-Woody material, lately Stefan Grossman's stuff. Since I've only been recording new material lately it must seem like I'm on a Woody kick. Does that make sense? But I was thinking the other day that I should record some of my older non-Woody tunes. Just need to make time. Excellent! Sweet tone. I was about to post nice Gibby tone... but then I see you went Nazareth! Thank you Sal! Sorry to sneak that Martin tone under your nose there. ;)

J-Doug Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Doug..............fine playing and a great tune. I'm also on the "Woody obsession". Thank you so much! Woody's the man! If you have a chance I recommend attending one of his seminars in person. He's quite the teacher and a genuine nice guy.
J-Doug Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 Thank you all to those who took the time out to listen. It is much appreciated.
