After the turmoil I felt after posting pics yesterday of that Chibson Joe Perry I thought about it for most of the evening & today I returned it to where I bought it and advised my friend to contact the guy that had it on consignment to come and take it back and get it out of his store. I told him that he may be exposing himself to problems he doesn't need should a customer find that offensive enough to report him. I also got to thinking about whenever I die, my family would not necessarily know that wasn't a real Gibson & the last thing I wanted to do is create a problem for them in selling off my gear. That's the main reason I took it back - I didn't want it in my house anymore. I'm glad I took a bunch of photos of it for my gear reference library but it made me feel dirty having it here. [blush]

I also am grateful that admin honored my request & deleted that Joe Perry LP thread. Thanks folks! [thumbup]

Now for the other joy of my day so far - while I was there returning the aforementioned contraband - I spotted a couple things that had come in since yesterday that I brought home with me. Here's some pics of my latest plunder [love]

Say hello to my Gretsch 5120 Electromatic & my Fender Tweed Blues DeVille Reissue (came with Fender brown cover & footswitch too) [wub]

Nice one Rev...Glad you don't play piano ("Guys! I just picked up another Bosendorfer!!") [biggrin][flapper]

There are still 3 months to Xmas......

I predict at least another 2......

And then there are the 2015 models....

Obi-Wan...the gas is very strong in this one...... [cool]

My heartiest congrats, Rev.

I had very mixed feelings as far as the Chibson was concerned regardless of your good-intentions behind the purchase and am delighted by this update.

I'm sure a Gretsch and Fender must be regarded as being an out-and-out triumph in comparison.

Play them both for a very long time in great health!..........................[thumbup]

Those Gretsch Electromatics are brilliant guitars. I have the same one as you and it sounds & plays beautifully, like a guitar worth much more. Fender amps are the best IMO too! Enjoy your new purchases, I am sure you will.

A very nice pair !!!

when I saw your "chibson" thread last night, I figured it was the fresh Demerol i'd just had and didn't really believe what I was seeing [scared] .....but a REAL boneyard would be like a "bucket-list guitar" for me.

Congradulations!! And thank you. I held my tongue on the Chibson post before because I had nothing but bad things to say. Counterfiting is for shitweasels. So glad you had a change of heart.

Nice score!!

Congrats on that Rev. Dave, there aren't many guitar/amp pairings that sound as sweet as the Gretsch/Fender combination. There is something about the cleanliness of a Fender amp that really brings out the best in the Gretsch Super-Trons,Hi-Lo Trons etc. My old '66 Tennessean just sings when played clean through my old Bassman or Blues Jr. I'm sure that this set up will bring you years of satisfaction.Cheers.

I've got one in wine red, love it, [thumbup] wish all my other guitar's necks felt like this one does. great score [thumbup]

Loves me some tweed amp too, how does that sweet thing sound ?

TC

These two go together absolutely perfectly. I wailed on this setup all last evening and most of this afternoon. I gotta go mow my yard :)

Thank you sir! I ran the amp clean for awhile but then I cranked up the gain and let those 4x10s scream. GREAT for blues with an edge and classic rock as well. Surprisingly versatile setup. Wonderful voices throughout! YEAH! :-({|=
