jannusguy2 Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I just snagged this 2003 OM 18GE. Sounds great, plays great. Getting used to the neck but it will be OK. My 00018 Marquis in the back ground is for sale on Reverb.com as this guitar makes it a bit redundant. Love the banjo tuners on this and the BRW appointments. I'd wanted one of these for awhile.
j45nick Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I'd really like to hear that one! The banjo tuners sort of look like a pain to me, but I guess if they're geared, they aren't that different.
duluthdan Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Nice ! Love the simplicity of this one - black Ebony bridge and fretboard, smartly placed subtle pickgiard. Cool. Do th banjo tuners come standard ???

Do th banjo tuners come standard ??? Yep and they're right on. So far, I find less play in them than the standard tuners on anything else. I had a baritone uke with these on it and it was a bit of a process to get it where I wanted it. Not the case with these. The hold the tune, so far, too.
Rambler Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Nice catch, Rob. From 00018GE to OM18GE is living in pretty high cotton. How do you like the long scale on the new dog versus the short scale on the GE?

Great find! What do you mean when you say BR appointments? I am not sure of the tuners, but they probably grow on you. BluesKing777.
blindboygrunt Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Nice. What are banjo tuners ? and what happened to the old table ? I liked it better
bobouz Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 What are banjo tuners ? Look closely at the peghead. The tuners are inline & go straight back instead of out to the side. This is the typical style on a banjo - first without gearing, and now with.

I liked it better Here's a straight on shot of the head stock so you can see the difference. Had that other table for 20 yrs. Tired of looking at it. Thanks for noticing! LOL!

How do you like the long scale on the new dog versus the short scale on the GE? I really don't even notice it. The neck shape was throwing me at first but I'm adapting. This is a pretty amazing sounding guitar. It has Martin Monel strings on it. Trying those for the first time. I like them...
onewilyfool Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 GE…..nice get….Jannus, let us know how those moneys sound and especially how they last…..I've heard mixed reviews…..play it in good health my friend!!!
Smurfbird Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Looks like Martins are starting to tip the scales away from Gibsons... hmmnn....
