Alex1984 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Hi everybody i d like to buy a Les Paul custom shop guitar. Serial number is CS 200632 Owner says he bought it in february 2013 , the guitar is in mint conditions. Price is around 2.500 $ with original case . Owner says the fretboard is made by ebony is it true? Somebody told me that new gibson don't use ebony anymore . Do you think the price is right? Any suggest about new gibson ? Thank you very much for help Alexhttp://forum.gibson.com/public/style_emoticons/default/msp_thumbup.gif
capmaster Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 The serial number says 2012 as year of build. Exact dating is not possible, but it could be one with a laminated fretboard. One of my 2012 CS LPs has a one-piece, the other one a laminated rosewood board. I can't tell exactly about CS fretboard timbers, it is unlikely to have an ebony board but possible. Without closer specifications, an appropriate pricing is hard to rate from a far, but it basically seems reasonable for mint condition. What exactly do you mean saying "new Gibson" - in general or Custom Shop models?
BigKahune Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 . Not positive, but AFAIK Gibson started using richlite fretboards (not ebony) in their LP Customs around 2012. Without knowing the particulars of the Custom you're talking about, the price seems in the ballpark to me. .
