MorrisrownSal Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Chilly and rainy day here. Melancholy. All the Wild Horses about fits the mood. This is a stunningly beautiful Ray La Montagne song (that is... if you listen to Ray sing it). https://soundcloud.com/sal-from-chatham/all-the-wild-horses
j45nick Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Another good one, Sal. Love your voice. To me, that song cries out for flat-picking in addition to strumming. Might be time to over-dub a second guitar.
MorrisrownSal Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 I'll give that a shot Nick... and thanks!
duluthdan Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Cool song. Love the depth of sound on the vocal, just right .
flatbaroque Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I love that sort of song.Beautifully performed and recorded
MorrisrownSal Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 Thanks guys. I just tried adding a track with my Gretsch boxcar in open G. Better? Is the track too loud in the mix?

I don't think the new track is too loud. It's a good accent, and accentuates the general loneliness of the song. I might play with a bit more. Maybe the slide needs to be even a bit more upfront, with the strumming supporting it, rather than the other way around. Now you're talking production, which is often more challenging than the recording itself. But also a lot of fun.
