Is there any differnce in the top coloring on the Supreme Desert Burst vs the Koa top desert burst ?

Maybe in the dark they glow differnt but daylight.

The gold finish on pickups. turners is just a gold plating on the suporeme. ?

[blush] Sorry for being so late, I must have overlooked your topic. :(

Every individual guitar top will have a unique, special look, changing with light, lighting angle, and viewing angle. The wood itself will usually make more of a difference than subtle variations in finish.

All plated parts have just a thin coat regardless if gold, nickel, or chrome. Gold platings typically wear quicker than nickel which in most cases builds up tarnish. Removing it will increase material loss. Chrome platings are much tougher and often still look like new after decades. Due to their rugged passivation layer, they don't corrode, and cleaning will leave the surface practically unaffected. This is not true for black chrome which tends to get dull rather fast.

Hope this helps.
