Paul Newman Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Hi. I have a Les Paul Custom '57 reissue which I bought new in 1992. It has the serial no: 2 0493. I have tried to trace this number on the various on-line databases but keep getting 'number not found'. Does anyone know where I can get information about this instrument?
BigKahune Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 . YRRRR Y=year. R=production rank CS serials don't follow the standard formula. .
Golden Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 . YRRRR Y=year. R=production rank . Sorry, crossed posts with you.
BigKahune Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 . Your welcome. BTW, Gibson doesn't give out production info to anybody. These so called online data bases (like Guitar Dater) just decode serial numbers by a standard formula - they have no info to give other than what info can be extracted from the serial. If your guitar was built in the 90s or later, and you want details about your guitar like factory finish, hardware, electronics, you can ask Gibson via email at service@gibson.com - include your serial and, if you like, a pic or two (2mb limit). .
