andrewatt
I have a chance to purchase a Les Paul Classic but I need some education. Does the word "classic" indicate that it is a reissue? According to the serial number 003769 it is a 1960, but this conflicts with the seller saying that it is a reissue. Or does the reissue use original serial numbers. Any help would be apprectiated

You should've posted this in the Instrument ID section...there are couple of members more familiar with this version of the Les Paul guitar. They were kind of reissues, before the Historic guitars appeared, thus they have 60s style ink-stamped serial numbers. Post some pictures, in the ID section of the Forums. pippy
Hi and welcome to the forum. The serial number starting 00 indicates it's from 2000. It's a '1960 Classic'. It is not a 1960 Re-Issue. The R-I's are worth roughly double what the Classics are worth. Check out the post about the 1998 Classic in the Les Paul section of the forum. There is a bit of info here; http://forum.gibson....ssic-from-1998/ ...and post #25 here; http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/115826-gibson-les-paul-standard/page__st__20 P.
