I HAVE A VERY OLD GIBSON ACOUSTIC GUITAR WHERE IT IS INLAYED IN THE HEADSTOCK "THE GIBSON".I THINK ITS FROM THE EARLY 1900'S.I MADE OUT THE SERIAL # WHICH IS 5657.I WAS WONDERING WHAT YEAR IT IS FROM AND HOW MUCH IT WOULD BE WORTH? IT'S A LITTLE NICKED UP BUT FOR HOW OLD IT IS I THINK IT'S IN GOOD PLAYING CONDITION.

Since serial numbers cycle around, if it is indeed from the turn of the century, that number comes up in my book as 1909.

Value is something that would have probably have to be determined in person, although Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, does do some ID's and appraisals via the internet.

If you would like to do some research yourself, there are some great books out there on the history of Gibson guitars. It's interesting reading and they always have loads of pictures.

Post some pictures of you guitar and see what everyone around here can tell you about it.
