brc
Any one have any suggestions on guitar humidifiers. I have looked at quite a few, but have never used one myself. I have a lot of guitars that I am unable to use any more, <bad left hand> and just wanted to see if any one has tried any of them the market. Some of my guitars I have owned sense the 50s and 60s, and never had an issue, but then I was using them on a daily basis. Appreciate any tips or suggestions
SteveFord
The old hunk of wet sponge in a perforated pill bottle works well for me with the electrics. For acoustics there's the damp sponge in the perforated rubber sleeve that goes inside of the guitar body. Once a week I wet the sponges as they've dried out. Kaiser Bill
I'm using a sponge inside a travel soap dish with some holes drilled in it for my J200. Works like a charm.

Appreciate any tips or suggestions Hey Bill, I use a room humidifier, that's all you need. They are essentially disposable every few years since they are hard to clean but they are worth it. Depending on how hard the water you use is they should last a few years. The one in my guitar room is 5 years old and probably the last year I use it. I'll buy a new one next year. This one uses a filter. I have two filterless in other room but those are too much for a guitar room, the y have too much output if that makes sense. I usually buy whatever humidifier I find at Walmart. If you are trying to humidify acoustics be careful to use distilled water, I have seen mold grow real quick. brc
Thanks every one. Those are some good tips. I don't mind spending the $14.00 to $21.00 each on the humidifiers, but if the wet sponge trick works good, I will give that a try. I need about 12 for acoustics, and about 6 for the simi hollow bodies. Any issues with the solid bodies, Strats, Teles, and SGs I think in all, I would need about 28 if I was to use one in each case. cookieman15061
I keep most of my electrics hanging in my guitar den. I do run a humidifier from November through March and it's been a huge help in keeping the guitars in playing shape. My acoustics are in their cases with sponges. The humidifier is set at 45%
sg50
I use an Oasis on my acoustic. I've had it for 2 years, and I've been satisfied with it. I can move the guitar case around as normal with it in there, and I don't need to fuss with sponges. http://www.oasishumidifiers.com More importantly, I keep a hygrometer in the house. It's an inexpensive Meade (I actually have two of them each with a remote sensor so I can measure Temperature and Humidity in four places). When the humidity drops, I use the humidifier. The hygrometer will tell when and how much to use whatever humidifier you choose. I don't bother using the humidifier on my electrics. I never have. They just don't seem to be as prone to humidity as the acoustic.
