Richard-H Posted November 28, 2014 Share Posted November 28, 2014 Hi, I considering buying a Casino for myself this Xmas. I have 2 questions: 1. How is the bridge fixed to the guitar on Casinos? Usually bridges mounted on post require solid wood. How do they anchor the bridge on Casinos? 2. I've viewed a lot of 'Vintage sunburst' Casinos. Some finishes are Black --> Brown --> Natural and others are Black -->red -->natural. Which is the 'Vintage Sunburst' on the current standard Casinos? Which models & years have which finish? Thanks! Go on archtops then to casino and you'll get specs and pictures of the different years and models of Casinos, It's very informative. If you look in through the f-hole you can see a block of wood directly under the bridge. It is that block that gives support to the top and I suppose what the bridge is mounted to. 2. The burst with the slight red is more of the vintage finish. Your best chances of getting that are on the Elitist models or the Inspired By John Lennon models. But oddly enough, even though I have a Standard Casino, sometimes when I photograph it a bit of red appears! On the other hand, John Lennon's Casino has red in some photos and just black/brown in others. The red is more like a trick of the light. It's there, on Elitist and Inspired By Lennon models it may be finished that way...but even though the red is there, it may not be there! Go figure. Look at Lennon's Casino. No cherry red in some photos, cherry in another. Same guitar. If you buy a Casino you really have to see it with your own eyes to be sure of the burst's coloring. In the case of color, I think it may be more dependent on the top wood, paint batch, factory, and painter. Just knew that even though the tobacco burst is probably my least faovite finish, I still opted for it (see avatar). It's just a great guitar.
