Country Shredders....

I first ran into pickers like that in the '70s at old time fiddling events. Totally different from my mostly fingerpickin' and basic flatpicking backup for the fiddlers - and some of them are still alive and pickin' out here in the boonies when they're not working their cattle.

I doubt if anyone would be allowed to describe this accurately as shredding but no matter how often I see/hear this demo I can't help but grin from ear to ear.

It's an amalgam of Blues and Country (I suspect) and it's an un-alloyed delight.

Rocketman...

I've a hunch you're a good enough picker and the concepts of the pickin' would work for you.

Dunno if you've been fingerpickin', but notice both those folks were doin' just that.

And doin' it rather well. <grin>

My guess is that a lot of half decent pickers could make the switch from flatpickin' to fingerpickin' easier than at first thought. Heck, Joe Pass did it, and all he did was a little jazz.

<chortle>
