btoth76
Hello! Even though, it didn`t worth all the work spent on it, I made my own neck support caul on the weekend. Could have bought one for 14 pounds. <_< Anyways, here it is... Works well. I might add a cork padding later. Cheers... Bence

btoth76
Hello! To be honest, besides having a low budget (as usual), the reason I decided to make my own, is that the most cauls I have seen, doesn't support the entire neck. The longer is better... Just ask RCT about the tenons. ;) ...and meanwhile, I was feeding the stove at home with black locust, I've picked a nicer piece of wood, and this is the result. Cheers... badbluesplayer
Nice job. Just think about all the money you could make selling those.

btoth76
Nice job. Just think about all the money you could make selling those. Thank You, Badbluesplayer! Well, I don`t see the business potential. It took way too long (2 days) with the basic handtools I own. StewMac sells them for 20 bucks. That`s why I said it didn`t worth the effort. Best wishes... Searcy
Very nice work! I always just use a shot bag as a neck support. They don't look as nice is this though!

Thank You, Searcy. Smart idea, but I tend to overcomplicate things. But at least, now I have all the tools to do my own setups. Cheers... Mr. C.O. Jones
Hey that looks great Bence It´s always more fun to do it yourself, and for me it adds some mojo to things. Nice job! Greetz Marcos
btoth76
Thank You, Marcos! Now fingers are crossed. I leave for holidays on the 18th, and I will try to set up my guitars on my own for the first time. Best wishes... Bence

Rabs
That looks awesome man Could do with one of those myself.. At the moment I just fold a big towel over a few times and use that.. High tech huh :)
btoth76
Thank You, Rabs! Also thanks for recommending G&W! Great stuff! I also bought a very nice crowning tool from UK. I am looking forward to setting up the guitars. By the way: if You ever consider to use black locust for a guitar build project, don't do that. This wood is like marble - a real pain to shape it! Cheers... Bence

Bence No worries sir.. always a pleasure :) I saw that tool when I was looking too, in the end though of all the tools I use for frets my favourite is a standard triangular file that I filed the edges down on so the edges are rounded (and don't eat in to the fretbaord).. The fret tool files you can buy are good, but I just find I can get a nicer shape when I do it with my file rather than the specialised tool... And I was wondering what that wood was, I was thinking Oak as it looks kinda similar, and that's a pain to cut too.. But my biggest nightmare has to be radiusing an Ebony fretboard, that is pain :)
Brytam
Looks great! I have been looking at getting one for a while. Just using a big rolled up towel now. You turned that function into a work af art! Well done!
