MorrisrownSal
Ray LaMontagne song. Real sad but pretty song (his version anyway) . This is my cheap Gretsch bass, my SJTV, and my Gretsch Boxcar https://soundcloud.com/sal-from-chatham/empty

blindboygrunt
It's such a shame we're not allowed to swear on the forum because that needs a bit of vernacular. loved it. effing loved it
MorrisrownSal
Thanks gents. I trudge through the week with my carrot being able to have time to mess around on weekends. Check out his version of Shelter and Be With Me Please. BBG this guy's stuff is real poetic. I think you would love him. I am into him and Tweedy nowadays. Tweedy's songs are imagery, great emotion, but a definite economy of words. Ray on the other hand is a Dylan Poet. And Dan - it is in open D. I need to try open G. The resonator is a new experiment for me. I picked it up a few months ago and I am trying to teach myself stuff via the interwebs... Question. So this song is kind of in A minor. How should I know how to tune the resonator? Any rules of thumb or is it trial and error?

Smurfbird
Agree on Ray. That Rock 'n' Roll and the Radio song is a killer as are many others. Also agree on Sal nailing these songs, capturing the emotional truth of a song is often the hardest part once one has the other stuff down. I'm a complete amateur next to you, Sal. Great job!
