bobouz
Okay, now you're talkin' about my favorite acoustic in Gibson's lineup. Although it's pretty, I don't need the extra foo-foo of this version. Any natural finish J-185 will do.
Hall
Looks good to me as is. Thanks, Juan. You know me and maple. edit: guitars just cost too darn much anymore.
kidblast
nice stuff for some reason tho... the pick guards just seem to be a bit "too much"
CAMELEYE
Agree. Don't care for the pearl. Seems unnecessary. Out of place. So, drop the pearl, add a full body 'burst and I might have to check the bank account.

mountainpicker
Being a J-50 owner and lover I much prefer a sparser look. In my personal opinion of course, the J-185 already had (or has) the appropriate bling upgrades in the originals by having the split parallelograms and the (requisite) Maltese crosses on the bridge. Sooo, I find this birdseye version kind of weird and not to my liking. I don't have a problem with birdseye but I do have a question about what species of maple Gibson uses most often in its modern acoustic guitars? Or should I start another thread? J-185s are just about the sexiest guitar shape goin' though.
zombywoof
SJ ? Answer: The Gibson L-12 archtop which started sporting the fretboard inlays around 1935. Here is a 1937 L-12 that was visiting me for a bit.
mountainpicker
Some day, when I'm on the India version of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, the final question for a gazillion rupee is going to be... And I'll think for a minute and say a silent, prayerful, thank you to zombywoof for giving me the answer that made me a winner. I would NOT have guessed the L-12 in a million years. I wasn't aware there even was an L-12!
