Qestion about a serial number

Ok, Saw a really cool guitar today.

A 1977 Special in TV yellow.

I really liked it.........to the point that I might seriously consider trading in some others to afford it.

My only real concern is that the serial number on the back of the head stock was on a sticker. I don't know enough about the 70's guitars to know if this is proper.

Any input from the experts would be appreciated.

Yes, there were some in the mid 70s that had stickers...many times they were oval and often started with 76 or 00. It was BEFORE they made the distinction between Kalamazoo and Nashville production within the serial number but I'm betting it's Nashville.

Yes, to elaborate (and correct) on what KSD has said.... the oval waterslide serial number/model decal is proper and correct for Gibson solid bodies made from 1975 through 1977.

99 = 1975

00 = 1976

06 = 1977
