Stamped serial number that is difficult to read the first number. It looks like it's 308xx. Pots are numbered 1346120. Neck joint is stepped. L5Larry Posted January 20, 2015 Share Posted January 20, 2015 After using the first digit prefix system from about '53 to sometime in early '61, Gibson changed to a straight consecutive number system. The three to five digit numbers are fairly consistent, and identifiable. It's not until the numbers got into the six-digit range that things got all mixed up. Hence, 100 through about 42000 designates an instrument manufactured in 1961. Since both the serial number and the pot codes both date to 1961, you are safe to say your guitar is a 1961 model.
