10K-DB
Was watching some Zappa vids,,ran across this one. His SG has a really neat color+finish on it,,but my fav thing about the vid is the pants he has on. Im going to make a table cloth of the same style if I can find it,,really cool. capmaster
In my opinion his clothing is funny, but to my experiences his SG must have been great:

10K-DB
In my opinion his clothing is funny, but to my experiences his SG must have been great: Those are nice,,his solo work in this tune is wild ,,just kidding about the pants/tablecloth. He is such a genius of music,,his vibrato bar dives he did,, the trem stayed in tune pretty well,,ya know Im wondering if the violin player was Jon Luc Ponty? Looks a bit like him. Not sure. I'm not sure, too, but now you mentioned Ponty it seems rather likely to me. Sadly I couldn't find a way to make work the vibrato without going out of tune after serious use. The Schaller roller bridges I use improved performance, but in no way it could compete with my Floyd Rose axes. What I love most of the FZ "Roxy" SGs is the tonal flexibility. Due to the special front pickup position, the phase reversed selections work nicely throughout the entire fretboard, without the typical dead spot at 20th or 21st fret. Very useful, very sophisticated. Remarkably, with both PUs activated as humbuckers they are my "go to" guitars for playing pure rock'n'roll. capmaster
It is Ponty. Thank you very much for this clarification, FZ Fan.

Hey 10K-DB - I actually think you might have that backwards . . . it looks like he made the pants out of a tablecloth!

10K-DB
Thanks for the info,,yea,,looks like Ponty to me also. The Floyd rose trem works a bit better also,,but the stock SG trem holds its own for the era it was manufactured. As far as the "tablecloth" pants,,Frank wears them well. And a pair of solid mahogany clearcoated shoes completes the ensemble.
capmaster
Until now I wasn't able to find out if Frank's SG came stock with a cream-coloured peghead front, or if it's his own work. Any clues?
SteveFord
No clue with the peg head but it looks like he got a package deal with that smoking jacket to go along with the pants.
