Joe B
I have a 1950 LG1 that needs to have the action adjusted down about 1/8". It has a fixed through saddle. How do I safely remove it? Thanks

j45nick
That saddle should be loose in the slot, unless someone has glued it in. You should be able to pull the normal through saddle straight out vertically with your fingers.
jedzep
Also, if you're looking to lower action by sanding down the saddle you may reduce whatever sound quality you can get out of it by taking down the string break angle. You should have the thing looked over by someone who can assess the situation and maybe spot a different way to achieve your goal. Maybe the nut slots can be played with or neck angle tweaked with a truss rod adjustment. 1/8 inch is a pretty substantial chunk to take off. You would need to remove 1/4" off the saddle. You should get it checked out and see if you need a neck adjustment or reset. You may have other issues going on.
