KHT
You just won a lottery drawing - you can have a Gibson Hummingbird or a J-45 Custom. Which one do you pick and why (aside from the mahogany vs rosewood conversation). Thanks!
Fullmental Alpinist
Easy. I win the lottery: I buy both just because I can. FMA
JuanCarlosVejar
A hummingbird would be my choice. They say it is the perfect complement to the human voice. Mick Jagger and Keef played them . JC

JC That makes no sense. Keith definitely isn't human , and I'm not 100% sure Mick is. Hummingbird.
Slinky1
I would get a Hummingbird TV. I like the bling on both, and they are both nice guitars. I love slopes, but I would get the Hummingbird. I like the tuners and truss rod cover on the bird. I think the TV's are a bit different than the standards.
fortyearspickn
I have 'variations on the theme' of both. If I had a Sophie's Choice to make - I'd have to keep my J45 Custom. The H'Bird is, of course, spectacular. But it just doesn't seem to have an all round 'can do it all' sound. Feel is better, but not appreciably. They are about equal in bling I'd say. I bought my H'Bird TV before the J45C because I had an SJ200 and wanted something markedly different. After that, I felt I had one more gap to fill and, helped by advice received here - sought out the J45C in koa. G'Luck. You really can't go wrong with either, you know ! zombywoof
Not in the know but if I win the lottery I am buying a 1936 Advanced Jumbo. Accept no substitutes.

zombywoof
Well…you better have about $60k to step up to that plate! Does not seem like it was that long ago that I could have scored one for a measly $26K. I figure I should be able to get one in the $40K range if I am not too picky about condition. ballcorner
I would go with statistical analysis and get a J45. I don't know why Custom versus Standard, but that would be your problem to decide. Bottom line is this: You never see a really great guitar player using a Hummingbird as their MAIN instrument. You see a lot of J45s - especially in the singer/songwriter set.
