bzdup
I have a 3 pickup LEs Paul Classic Custom with 3 Dimarzio Super Distortions. I am struggling to swap out the middle pickup, because Gibson wires this pickup through the switch. The original wiring also makes use of ALL FOUR conductor cables whereas my replacement pickup (an Ibanez Super 70s)only has one hot and one ground. What I did was I just attached the hot for the Ibanez pickup to the hot for the Dimarzio (red) and the ground of the Ibanez to the ground (green). I disconnected the black and white wires from the switch. But the middle pickup sounds very weak. Did I do this properly? I doubt it becuase the ohm reading is 3.5 and it should be double that. My question: How do I wire the 2 conductor Ibanez Pickup to the Gibson switch and produce the full two coil tone of the Ibanez humbucker? Thanks!!! DynoByte
Sounds like you got into the coil split, should be 7+.
